Week to go #bordersbookfestival

It’s come around fast but this time next week I will be counting the hours till I attend my first 2012 Borders Book Festival event. William Boyd who is one of my favourite authors and who is appearing at the festival for the first time! I must admit this is one of my favourite weekend’s of the year! Anyone who reads my blog or follows me on twitter will know that books are one of my favourite hobbies particularly fiction. Which is why I am particularly looking forward to this years festival as it is a feast of fiction! As well as William Boyd whose new book Waiting for Sunrise is well worth a read. I am going to see Costa winner Andrew Miller author of Pure! Ros owner of Mainstreet Trading bookshop in St Boswells had been urging me to read this for ages and I had resisted but couldn’t resist the temptation to hear an award-winning author. So bought a ticket and then read the book and loved it! On Sunday I am attending the family day my son is so excited that the lady who wrote Horrid Henry is at the festival and my daughter is looking forward to writing tips from children’s author Eleanor Updale! Later on I am going to see Patrick Gale whose book a Perfectly Good Man is one of the best books that I have read all year! It was a toss-up between that and Alan Massie whose book set in Bordeaux during world war two I loved and looking forward to reading the sequel but I figured as Alan Massie is a local I might get the chance to hear him again! Hopefully though I will buy the book and get two author signatures his and Patrick’s for the price of one! Finally I am going to see new fiction authors. I have read two and hoping that the third Tell the Wolves I’m coming will arrive today! I also can’t wait to see who wins this years Sir Walter Scott prize some great authors in the frame and I have just about read them all! My favourite so far is Sister Brothers a book I didn’t think I would like but I loved it a really clever yet funny book! So seven days to go till the 2012 Borders Book Festival begins. I can’t wait! http://www.bordersbookfestival.org/
