Thought I would just write a quick update to explain why I have not been blogging so much in the past few weeks. It’s not that I don’t want to it’s just that I have been really busy recently and although I get lots of ideas of things to write about in my head I don’t have the time to get them down on a blog.
So just in case you have been missing me thought I would update you on what I has been keeping me away from Fionadranes blog – work!
Bright Light Marketing has been in the fortunate position of being really busy and in the past few weeks I have written a report evaluating a local event. I have written two marketing plans and am about to start another one. In the past three days we have held two workshops and one presentation of a marketing plan. We are busy, busy and I am really enjoying it.
I like all aspects of marketing which is why I love the job. But if I was to choose writing a marketing plan is one of my favourite things to do. I enjoy the research that goes into writing a good marketing plan, the brainstorming and the thinking process and then the writing of the plan itself. Presenting it to the client and then perhaps my favourite part the implementing of the plan and seeing it making a difference to a client’s business.
Although we have been busy we have still had time to think about Bright Light Marketing and the three of us realised today that in January Bright Light Marketing will be five years old. It made us reflect on the journey we have been on like any business the highs and the lows.
It also made us feel very proud of where we have taken the business. Our vision was to be a rural marketing agency specialising in the needs of rural businesses. Inevitably at first as our background was in tourism marketing our main client base was tourism. But we wanted to work with other sectors and gradually over the years we have done so. We now have clients in food and drink, leisure and entertainment, professional services, the Charity and Social Enterprises Sector and Tourism. In fact we have more clients currently in other sectors than we do in tourism.
There have been times in the past five years when it’s been very tough indeed to be in business. But have I ever regretted setting up Bright Light Marketing? No I love running a small business, doing what I do best marketing and making a difference to the rural economy which I love so much.
So I look forward to raising a glass in January to Bright Light Marketing and its first five years! And look forward to the future of the exciting and challenging world of running your own business.
