4 days now to go till our supermarket ban is over so will we return to Tesco’s and Asda?
Well yes and no. No we won’t slavishly go there on a weekly basis but yes we will use it when we need to but be far more careful about the spend and the amount of time we spend there. Why? Well the main lesson that we have learnt is that we don’t need to shop there on a weekly basis its a routine that we had. It meant that we went out of habit not need. If that makes sense.
Plus we have enjoyed shopping locally. Local shops have a lot going for them. As I said before their customer service is far better, they know you if you are a local and its much more fun and far less stressful. We have also learnt that you can in the main get the same if not better products.
So we will be doing a monthly shop in Aldi for canned and dry ingredients but out with that we will keep shopping locally. Think twice before buying and consider have we food in the house first. This month three times I have had to change dinner as I didn’t have the ingredients and each time have managed to produce food from the house without spending additional money.
People asked if we had saved money honestly no we haven’t but we haven’t spent any more than usual either. And a huge benefit has been a lot less wastage of food. So the key benefits have been supporting local shops, less food wastage and finally and most importantly spending less time shopping and more time living!
