Looking back and forward

December was always going to be a bad month for me and this
year it seemed worse with the constant snow and ice making life
really difficult and it all got me down at various points and that
is when I am at my worst shopping wise so I have two things to
confess. My first offence occurred on my 2010 trip away with
my husband at my parents place in the Lake District. I had
been really good even though I had visited all my favourite shops
in Kendal I did not buy and even the next day in Keswick though I
loved lots of the clothes in Fat Face and White Stuff I did not
relent. I was feeling quite good about this and then I made
my first mistake of the month in a very un Fiona
Drane shop. My husband had dragged me into a Charity
Shop which I am not keen on despite being an avid Kirsty
Allsop fan. My husband has got some great
bargains from them so I do see the value it’s just the smell of
them that puts me off. They all seem to smell to me of
mothballs! This particular one in Keswick did not have this
musty smell so I ventured in and then I saw them. A pair of
beautiful woolen Monsoon trousers in my size for the price of
£4.95. Before I knew it I was in the changing room and had
them on. Beautiful fit and they seemed such a bargain I just
had to have them and my husband having seen me looking at a £70
skirt in White Stuff was happy to oblige. My second offence
occurred before my last meeting of the month. Now I
could put this one down to being light-headed as I had fainted
that morning when I got up much to the shock of the dog and my
son. My husband who has got used to my faints from time to
time was relieved that at least this time I had lain down
before I fainted as I have been known to keep on walking as I say
“I am going to faint” including walking up the stairs.
Anyway after an hour in bed I got back up and ate breakfast and
decided to make my last meeting of 2010. On the way I had to
pop into one of our clients to see what they had in their shoe
sale! Work honestly but as my mum has told me it’s
like an alcoholic working in a bar. I bought a pair of
boots. They were a great bargain and I wore them today and
love them. I could blame my faint but honestly I just wanted
to cheer myself up! I am a hopeless case though in my defence
I didn’t buy the pink shoes that I had coveted in the summer and
were now in the sale. As for my on-line temptations my
parents very kindly bought me some clothes in the sale for
Christmas so I did get my Boden fix and was very
embarrassed when I opened these up on Christmas day that I had
been given a free hard back biscuit book courtesy of Johnny
Boden. A nice marketing touch or just another reminder how
much I have spent with them over the past year! Next I have been
good deleted all reminders of VIP invitations to the Sale and have
not looked at the sale on-line or in store. Though in
case they are worried I did buy some Christmas presents here. So I
am now at the end of 2010 and still I confess have issues with my
shopping and having been so good for three months have had a bit of
a blip! So I face another New Year with the same resolutions
of being better with my shopping addiction and resolve not to have
any blips well at least till the spring! Till then I will
enjoy my new trousers and my very nice boots! Auld Years Nicht
being a big occasion in the Scottish Borders I will not be
blogging tomorrow so wish you all the best for 2011. A new
decade and a New Year to make of it what we can! Happy New
Year and all the very best for 2011!
