Well I confess the task this week is one that I fear I would not excel at as my negotiation skills are not one of my key strengths.
From last night’s task it seemed to a be a female thing but I confess that like the girl’s team I would probably have gone about the task in the same way. There is nothing I like better than a shopping list of things to buy and like them that would have been my top priority. At this they did very well getting all ten items and early doors their game plan seemed better. They carried out the research, sourced the goods and they seemed to have the edge. Then they started negotiating and at that they let themselves down principally as they had no game plan for that part of the task. A lesson learnt in all aspects of business you need a plan for all aspects particularly the aspects that you are not so good at which is why I am not the negotiator in Bright Light Marketing I have a colleague who is a superb negotiator and I trust her which is how teams should work you pull all skills together. If the girls had concentrated on price as well they would have been off on a trip to Paris instead of sitting in the board room. Here they really let themselves down big time it just became a backstab festival and did nobody any credit which they then continued in the house on their return. My money was on Stella or Laura to go both of whom have business skills but let themselves down by being so competitive and back stabbing and I would hate to be on a team with either one of them.
On to the boys well dear old Stuart lives to fight another day yes I have to confess dare I say this I am starting to get fond of the boy from the Isle of Man. What can I say again I would hate to work with him but he is a starting to grow on me. He is who he is and wears his heart on his sleeve. The boys did well this week they certainly worked better as a team. My main issue was Chris and the tales he made up to get the price reductions just can’t see why lying should get you ahead in business you deceive people at your peril does not make for long-term relations. That said don’t think the people he told these tales to actually believed him they were so far-fetched! And he did make them smile. Which is a point that the Apprentice made well last night business should be fun you spend alot of time working so if you don’t enjoy it get out and do something else. The boys deserved their win they taught me to always look at all aspects of a task particularly the ones that are not your key strengths and delegate to colleagues who are good at that aspect and most of all if you work as a team and don’t back stab each other you will get results.
Till next week to see who will get FIRED and if the girl’s team completely breaks down with all their back stabbing or will they learn from the boys?
