Have you ever had one of those weeks where you just don’t stop? I feel that I have gone non stop since Monday Morning. It has been a brilliant week but it has been a bit of a whirlwind I must admit.
Monday I was over with my colleague seeing a Hotel Client in what we used to call in our Tourist Board days Dolce and Gabanna. As every place of work has we had in-house jargon and we referred to our colleagues in the neighbouring tourist board as D and G. (Dumfries and Galloway). We were just used to it and everyone knew what we meant but then a new colleague started to work with us who thought we were referring to Dolce and Gabanna (she was from the South!) and the name then stuck. Anyway I do digress we had a great meeting with our client and started to make plans for the 2011 tourism season.
Home though quite late, kids to feed, dog to walk and a car whose light wouldn’t go out making me fear for the battery was Monday night. Did I sit down I can’t quite remember. The next thing I knew it was morning and with military precision I got the kids out to school, made their tea in advance, walked the dog and set off in the car for Edinburgh to speak at the annual Wigwam Holidays conference. It was a great day and I met alot of very interesting people and was struck by not only the quality of the product but also the quality of the locations they are based in and the fact that it’s a fantastic farm diversification product for farmers looking in new directions. http://www.wigwamholidays.com/. I also had the fun of ordering 20 plus farmers for a photo shoot in Indian head-gear outside a wigwam in addition to presenting in the afternoon on marketing a small business. The conference ended at 5pm and I rushed into the car to get home and into the nightmare that is the Edinburgh city bypass. I had forgotten how you lose the will to live when all you want to be is home wasting time parked on the bypass in a miserable evening with the rain pouring down.
Home again was a mixture of pick up from Brownies and walk the dog and get kids to bed! Plus making myself some food had planned to just have soup figuring a buffet lunch would mean I would be full! More fool me the buffet in question consisted of stodgy sandwiches and uncooked potato wedges and all I could think of on the bypass was food/ food/food. So I cooked risotto though could have seen the effort far enough when I began but did enjoy it once cooked. Then it was catch up on emails and look at the farmers photos for the press release to go out today. Before I knew it was 11pma and way past bedtime!
Went to bed but was up again at 6am as I had an early meeting in Berwick. So was walking the dog very early doors before getting the kids up/ school and then back in the car again.
After a presentation in Berwick it was back in the car to Kelso to see a client before getting back again to look at what emails were waiting for me! It’s now 5pm I have just about got caught up with office work and I must admit I am rather exhausted and its only Wednesday.
Still I reflect it’s just a busy week a one-off! Till I look at the diary for next week and realise it’s not! Still life is a rollercoaster and its good to be busy but think I am going to take some time off tonight to just get off the coaster just for a moment and relax!
