Well must admit feeling rather smug as its now been two months since I have shopped for clothes or accessories for myself. It’s not been without temptation the marketing of one company in particular has been exemplary as ever but I have resisted mainly as I have spent most of the month enjoying the great outdoors which does not include spending time on websites or shopping malls but walking instead enjoying the last of the flowers in our garden or the wonderful countryside that I live in.
In my original blog I confessed that my two main temptations were Next Directory and Boden. Last month I mentioned that the winter Next Directory had just arrived. Well as I said I would I did take a look but as most of the clothes seemed to be a tribute to the 1970’s and not a decade that I am fond of fashion wise the temptation just wasn’t there.
Boden however has done much over the month to remind me that they have great clothes and that they value me as a customer. Their winter catalogue also arrived and even though I had seen this preview on-line a couple of months ago and not seen anything as soon as I had the catalogue to browse it was a different matter. So I binned it as if I keep looking the temptation just gets worse and worse and then I buy. Then a first I got a lovely letter from them saying that I had £9 credit and if I spent that soon they would give me a 15% reduction. This I also binned but not without a smile at their persistence. By this point I was feeling I was doing rather well until on Facebook and Twitter they announced their catch of the day. That is a whole 25% off certain goods different ones every day and quite a few of my favourites have been in it. But I resisted though a new catalogue has just arrived which I might just take a wee look at before I recycle.
So its been a good month all round and to be honest apart from enjoying the great outdoors I have enjoyed wearing clothes that I already have and enjoying my autumn wardrobe. I reflected though that I cannot be complacent November is not a month I like first month of dark morning and evenings and I can get a bit down with the start of winter. Still I have a plan plenty of walks and I am going to shop but I am going to shop in the big basket that is my winter wardrobe and which will replace my summer clothes in my wardrobe. The advantage of having a big wardrobe is that I confess I always find clothes that I forgot I had or that are now fashionable again.
Will keep you posted on how I cope with temptation during November at the end of next month. On the plus side I will be half way through my shopping ban if I manage it.
