We are now in the 1st of the month and its been a whole month since I confessed to my shopping addiction.
I thought I would update you on how I have done. Well first up I must confess I did buy a pair of earings and a bracelet in the wonderful shop in the Kelvingrove Art Gallery in Glasgow as I had got it into my head that it didn’t count. But now I re read my previous entry it really does count. So reader I am sorry I have failed in that respect.
But on the positive side of things I have been very good despite the temptation put in my way. Early doors Boden put the greatest temptation in my way as I complained to them that (pre my resolve not to spend) their carrier left our front gate open and when I complained he just shrugged his shoulders despite the fact that our pup had raced for the street and was only prevented from going on the road by a neighbour. Anyway the nice people at Boden said how sorry they were and credited my account with £30 I kid you not the day after my resolve not to spend. Such temptation and before I knew it was looking at the Boden catalogue at items well over the £30. But reader I was good I got a free pair of pyjamas well below the £30 and didn’t spend.
Next has also been tempting me and I have deleted their emails without reading them first even when they sent me the glad tidings they had a sale on. Will now have to be especially good with Next as their Christmas catalogue has arrived which I am planning to put in the bin but may just have a wee peak before I do so. As reader if I buy I have to confess to you next month. I was also quite pleased with myself that I noticed the catalogue outside the house when returning home from a walk yesterday forgot about it and fell across it coming out of the door this morning. The old Fiona would have had it opened, marked and been on-line in a jiffy! So I am giving myself a star for progress in that regard.
I was also very good when I was in Glasgow my favourite place to shop ah the joys of Buchanan street. I had read in advance of my visit that one of my favourite but now out of reach shops had been refurbished and was a flag-ship store this is Hobbs in Buchanan street. Now in the past I would have dragged hubbie in and used all my feminine skills to persuade him to buy me a little something or even a nice new suit! I didn’t as much as step foot in Buchanan street and temptation was not put in my way. Because as I have learnt what you don’t see you don’t want.
Finally this week just as I was beginning to feel smug and think I had one month under my belt (well apart from my wee blip at Kelvingrove) Boden sent me an email with 25% off. 25% off seemed too good to be true I mean this is almost sale prices very very tempting and the skirt that I bought pre resolve would look very good in the purple colour. But I was good so I deleted the email. But as a marketer I have to give Boden 10/10 for making sure their communication was visible to my eyes. The next thing I knew it was on my Facebook page. I went on the site I confess but did not buy and tried to put it out of my mind until opened up Twitter and there it was right on my home page. Luckily it was a 48 hour offer and I woke up yesterday knowing that offer was over and I was safe from temptation for just now.
So that has been month one of my resolve not to spend on clothes, shoes and I have been good just need to remember next month that it also includes accessories.
